Wow! I’ve been busy!

Well, here it is, the end of December, and I haven't put up a Christmas tree. I can't locate it. We've moved so many times; no one knows where it is. But Christmas is still happening, with or without it.

Now on to the gardening update. Everything is growing well. There have been a few things that didn't go well... one was the second zucchini I was expecting. A pest got to the end of it and destroyed it.

Zucchini I was waiting for.

The other thing that a pest got to was a cucumber. It was some worm. When I harvest items from the garden/greenhouse/hoop house, I soak them in water for about 30 minutes. That's to get all the bugs and whatnot off. Well, one of the cucumbers had a couple of hole in it, and after I soaked it, a worm came out of a DIFFERENT hole that I did NOT see.

I have also been making tea from the lemon balm. It has been growing quite well.

The Basil - Purple Dark Opal and the Asian (cinnamon) basil have been exceptionally well also. I have been cutting both and drying them for storage and use later.

The cherry tomatoes have been plentiful. I have pulled more than 12 off a day. And today, Christmas eve, I pulled off about 40. I didn't take a photo of them, though. I soaked them and started eating them. But here is a shot of the tomato bushes.

The cabbages are doing ok. But they don't like being moved. I moved one, and a few days later, bugs or a fungus got to it and rotted it out. I don't have photos of that either, sorry.

The sweet potatoes and garlic I planted in the same raised bed are doing well. The garlic shot up faster than I thought it would. So I planted some more in the same bed since there was space.

I have also seeded some swiss chard, turnips, red Russian kale, dwarf kale, sweet basil, Italian large-leaf basil, Genovese basil, and baby bok choi. All of which are currently sprouting nicely. I will add photos of them all later. I didn't take any before this posting.
