Mint

I have been experimenting with growing more herbs hydroponically. I thought mint would be perfect for this experiment because it is a very aggressive plant. So I found an old clay pot and placed some mint in a net cup, and put it in nutrient solution in the clay pot.

The clay pot is under a large blue lid. This lid is from a 5-gallon bucket I was using to grow jalapenos. I planted the mint on the right in the soil. I know what you are thinking: the hydroponic mint looks terrible, and I will agree. The reason is that I didn't mix nutrients specifically for this container nor the plant. I scooped some water from the lettuce tote and put it in the mint container. So the hydroponic mint didn't have enough nutrients. But I have corrected this, and we'll check it tomorrow. It should bounce back quickly.

By the way, here is a shot with some rosemary in the background. I have found it somewhat challenging to grow rosemary here.

The ground looks dry but trust me, and it is not. We have had rain every day for the past three months. But when the sun is out, it dries the surface.
